Winterstick Vintage 1985/86 Swallowtail
This rare seafoam plus model was made with metal edges to accommodate use at Alta which was the only resort to allow snowboards in the early 80’s (yes, Alta allowed snowboards) This board comes as a deck only in good condition. The top sheet is excellent for wall hanging visuals but upon closer inspection its missing traction bumps that have been sealed with an off white epoxy there are a few other traction bumps that did not fully form due to a lack of epoxy in the mold. The Winterstick logo has shifted to an off center position on the nose of the board. The base is in excellent to mint condition and does not look like its ever been used, looking at the mounting inserts it doesn’t look like its ever had bindings mounted to it either. This board is most likely a factory 2nd that someone tried to touch up for sale.

Collectors, please note, Salty Peaks Snowboard Shop has a mission statement to document and preserve snowboard history and does not engage in the selling of vintage snowboards from the Utah Snowboard Museum. Most of the boards on this site are privately owned and priced according to rarity and condition. In most cases, they are not intended to sell but to educate fellow collectors of the more rare and hard to find snowboards out there, along with potential value of such boards. Prices are set to discourage purchase, but as time catches up to value, these prices may not seem so far off in the future. If you are interested in selling a board of this caliber, please contact the curator of the Utah Snowboard Museum, Dennis Nazari. If you are in need of period correct bindings, parts, or hardware, also contact the museum for availability; or 801-273-8770
Happy hunting and enjoy!
