Vintage Early 80's Snowtech Snowboard
Ernie Delost was making snowtech snowboards in the early 1980’s before teaming up with Chuck Barfoot (Ernie and Chuck are still making boards today)
This all original board is in good to fair condition. All graphics are intact, deckmat looks new. The bungee straps are soft and pliable. The mounting mats have some rust on them. The stainless steel fins are straight and clean. The base shows signs of wear with several scratches, 3 of which are considered deep scratches but not through the base.
The biggest value detractor from this board is the damage to the tail fins from stuffing it in hard snow tail first. The right side just shows impact and a slight crack in the top sheet. A 2” x 1” piece of ptex missing.
The left side has about a 2” x ½” chunk of the topsheet wood missing and severe impact damage to the tip. But ptex is intact. This is a 7 ply wood construction and a very rare board in this condition.
Collectors, please note, Salty Peaks Snowboard Shop has a mission statement to document and preserve snowboard history and does not engage in the selling of vintage snowboards from the Utah Snowboard Museum. Most of the boards on this site are privately owned and priced according to rarity and condition. In most cases, they are not intended to sell but to educate fellow collectors of the more rare and hard to find snowboards out there, along with potential value of such boards. Prices are set to discourage purchase, but as time catches up to value, these prices may not seem so far off in the future. If you are interested in selling a board of this caliber, please contact the curator of the Utah Snowboard Museum, Dennis Nazari. If you are in need of period correct bindings, parts, or hardware, also contact the museum for availability; or 801-273-8770
Happy hunting and enjoy!
