1986, 87, and 88 Burton Cruzer Vintage Snowboard Collection
$2,000 for set of three boards
This set of three vintage Burton snowboards is the complete collection of late 80’s Burton Cruiser boards, also known as the Cruzer 165. The Cruzer was a big boards for its day, only eclipsed by the Express 175 in 1987. This collection of 3 boards is every production Cruzer made in the 1980’s.
The 1986 Cruzer 165 has a place for three fins although most riders ditched the fins at this point in time. The fins are missing but hardware is included. The 86 was also different because of the deck placemnt and Burton logo between the feet. It was made in June 1986, however, it does hot have a serial number which could mean it was a preproduction sample. The 1987 Cruzer 165 was made in June 1987. This board went to a single center fin and stomp pad style deck mat along with changing the spelling of “Cruzer”. Other than changes in the placement of logo and words it has the same geometry as the 86. The 1988 Cruzer 165 was made in June 1988 and has the same geometry as its predecessors but went with a brighter color them, dropped the center fin and went with a solid black stomp deck mat between the bindings. This was the last of the split tail Cruiser Series boards made by Burton.
All three boards are in good to excellent condition. Boards of lesser quality are available at a lower price. Set of three boards is $2,000, but original, era-correct bindings can be added for $150 per pair in ridable condition.
Collectors, please note, Salty Peaks Snowboard Shop has a mission statement to document and preserve snowboard history and does not engage in the selling of vintage snowboards from the Utah Snowboard Museum. Most of the boards on this site are privately owned and priced according to rarity and condition. In most cases, they are not intended to sell but to educate fellow collectors of the more rare and hard to find snowboards out there, along with potential value of such boards. Prices are set to discourage purchase, but as time catches up to value, these prices may not seem so far off in the future. If you are interested in selling a board of this caliber, please contact the curator of the Utah Snowboard Museum, Dennis Nazari. If you are in need of period correct bindings, parts, or hardware, also contact the museum for availability; or 801-273-8770
